Moorabool Wind Farm Project Wrap Up, September 2019

Moorabool Wind Farm Project Wrap Up, September 2019

After ten months on-site, we’re saying goodbye to the Moorabool South Wind Farm in Victoria, having now completed our scope of works.  The Nathan crews worked through the blazing heat and freezing snow-like conditions to deliver this project on time and within budget. We’re delighted to be wrapping up this project on a high, having broken all of our previous records for quantities of concrete poured and tower bases completed.

Moorabool was one of three Wind Farm projects Nathan worked on in 2019, and we’re glad to say we lived up to our motto of “getting the job done right the first time“. This job gave us another opportunity to add to our growing experience of providing structural concrete solutions for energy projects in Australia, and we’re heading into 2020 cementing our position as one of the leading concrete sub contractors on wind farm projects.

Nathan started work at the Moorabool South wind farm project in late November 2018. Our contract is to construct a total of 54 wind tower bases, over 26 weeks.  So how did we perform and did the numbers stack up?

  • Concrete poured: 25,000+ m3.  This project smashed previous company records for the most concrete poured in one week.
  • Record for most bases poured in one week: 4.

Our site crew has been excellent, they worked through extreme weather conditions, day and night, to complete this project on time.  We’re only as good as our men on the ground, and the Moorabool crew worked tirelessly to deliver an outstanding result while keeping safety a priority for all involved.  Here are some snaps of the crew:

The gang, admiring their handywork:

We’d like to give a special pat on the back to two of our site leaders: Shane Minahan, Site supervisor and Tristan Watkins, Site Engineer. These guys were responsible for keeping the wheels moving on this project and ensuring the well-being of our crew, and they pulled it off flawlessly.

Here are Shane and Tristan, talking shop and looking good while they do it:

Our final few months on the job consisted of epic evening pours and early starts – here’s a selection of shots to wrap up what has been a huge success for the Nathan team:
