Dalby Dryer Bio Refinery Plant, Dalby QLD
Nathan Contractors subcontracted to the Walz Group for the civil construction of an upgrade to the existing Bio Refinery in Dalby. The works were carried out under a tight time schedule while the plant remained in production.
The scope of works included site excavations and levelling, subgrade trimming, detailed excavation for slabs and footings, bored piers, supply and placement of concrete, supply and fixing of reinforcement, and the supply and erection of formwork to slabs, plinths and beams. Other site works included stormwater drainage, conduits installation for electrical supply and the supply and placement of gravel pavements.
Walz Group and the United Dalby Bio Refinery placed a high focus on safety in construction, performance to program and quality of work.

Contract duration: 20 weeks
Workforce: 13 form workers, reo fixers and concretors; 2 plant operators; the crews worked under a FIFO roster.
Quantities: Bored piers – 65 no. x 9m depth; concrete 620 m3, Reo 78T; formwork to slabs 360m2;
Plant and equipment utilised: site equipment included a 20T Franna and 200T Slew crane, a 36m Concrete pump, 30Texcavators, trucks and grader, rollers and water trucks.
